What I'm Wearing: Hi-Low Summer Dress

Dex aztek print hi-low dress / Francesca's pink chandelier earrings / Bamboo bangles and bracelets from Vietnamese street vendors

This dress was a birthday gift from one of my very best friends (hi Carly!) and it has quickly become my favourite go-to summer dress! I love the hi-low hemline and how it makes this piece so versatile. Maxi dresses are great and all, but they don't always have the best...ventilation... shall we say. (Ladies you know what I'm talking about!) This is my first (and only) hi-low dress and I love how I can still wear it when it's super hot outside. I've worn this dress with cute flat sandals for a casual daytime look, wedges and a cardi to go out for dinner, and apparently no shoes at all when just hanging out with family (these pictures were taken when we were in Trinidad last month at my grandma's house).

The heat and humidity in Trinidad were a bit of a shock to my Canadian system so my hair piled into a topknot was an absolute necessity. My husband tells me that apparently I get irritable a little too quickly when I'm hot and sticky so, although he says this is his least favourite hairstyle of mine, he was totally down with my 30 second bun which helped keep me cool all day. These photos were taken around 9.30am and I am already thisclose to turning into a little human sweatbox.

I'm going to be sharing my Best of Trinidad and Tobago pictures later this week so make sure to come back and check those out!

    1. I highly recommend the hi-low trend, if not for the fashion then at least for the cool feeling of having a train blowing in the wind behind you all day lol!

  10. I totally agree about the shorter dresses and the cranky feeling of being too hot. I particularly love the rope belt - it looks so classic but fashionable a the same time.

Thanks for sharing with Wardrobe Wednesday - hope to see you again this week xo

PS. how hard was it to head home after the holiday?
