Nail Polish: Cover Girl Outlast in coral silk

Nail polish lovers, I have a confession to make: I'm not a fan of Essie nail polishes (gasp). While they have a fabulous range of colours, I find the polishes to be thin, streaky, prone to chipping, and at $10 a bottle seriously overpriced. I was craving a new polish though and love this colour for summertime. Normally I'm a bit hesitant about drug-store brands, but at $5.49 a bottle I couldn't resist giving this Cover Girl nail polish a shot as I'd been searching for this perfect peachy / coral shade for a while.

I was very pleased about the quality of this polish and especially how chip-resistant it is! I used a base and top coat plus two coats of colour, then on day three I added another layer of top coat. For those of you who work with your hands a lot, you know how rare it is to stay chip free for so long and my nails are still going strong. These pictures were taken on day four after my manicure and not one chip - absolutely fantastic and such a better value compared to Essie! I'm a happy gal and will definitely be buying this line of nail polish from Cover Girl again.

I completely 100% agree with you about Essie polishes. When I see people singing their praises I wonder why. They go on kind of chalky, without even coverage, and it doesn't last long at all. Now this color you have on is PERFECT. So pretty with your skin color, not too bright, yet just right. I will definitely be picking up a bottle on my next trip to Walgreen's!

Exactly! Essie's range of colours and funny nail polish nicknames are awesome, and despite trying many colours, OPI and even CoverGirl have it beat! Who would have thought. As for this colour, I agree it's a perfect mellow-y coral. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I feel like Essie's a hit and miss too. Some are great, no complaints, others are awful. I am loving Drug Store polishes like Sinful Colors and Sally Hansen more and more. And the prices are great. Essie is getting pricey. Thank you for linking up today- I love your little blogo-space!

I just linked up my most recent mani on your site and used a white polish from Sally Hansen! And yes I second those excellent prices. It definitely makes it easier to justify a purchase here and there when you paint your nails as often as we do!

Very pretty color! Interesting that you've had issues with Essie. I find OPI and China Glaze have the best staying power.

Yes, unfortunately they haven't been the best in the past, even when applied during by a professional. China Glaze I've found to be a bit streaky as well (for their neon colours at least) but OPI is my favourite by a mile! Top quality all the time.

I love Essie - I'm hard on my nails and it's about the only one that doesn't chip. Around here they go for $7 to $8, so it's as much as OPI. But I understand where you are coming from because I'm the same way about people praising Julep (which is absolutely HORRID nail polish and they sell for like $14).

I haven't tried any CG though and will have to try it soon because that is such a gorgeous color :) Are they by the CG make up?

Yup it's the same CoverGirl company! I actually picked up another polish by them recently, a beautiful grey, which is great as well. Interesting that your experience with Essie has been all good... weird that we would have totally different experiences. As for Julep, I've never given it a shot. In fact I've only seen it on blog-world which makes me wonder if it's even available in Canada... hmm
